The majority of the inhabitants of San Martín Sacatepéquez are indigenous from the Mam tribe. Maya priests perform traditional sacrificial ceremonies on the shore using candles, flowers and holy crosses. We’ll take you to the Laguna Chicabal with a local people as the guide. He will explain about the Maya religion, Maya culture and about the different plants and animals.

The easy way to see the Santiaguito if you don’t want to or cannot climb the Santa Maria. You can climb the Mirador Santiaguito in half a day; You will watch the eruptions of Santiaguito volcano very closed from a safety location, (Natural terrace 1 km. or 0.62 miles from the crater).
