Day 2. ANTIGUA GUATEMALA.

In the morning you will explore the colonial city with a private guide, visiting the main monuments from the colonial period, Las Capuchinas convent, La Merced church, the Plaza de Armas, the Palace of the Royal Council, the Captain-General’s Palace and the Cathedral. In the afternoon, you will visit San Antonio Aguascalientes and the coffee farm La Azotea.

Day 3. ANTIGUA GUATEMALA – CHICHICASTENANGO – LAKE ATITLAN (PANAJACHEL)

Depart Antigua and travel to Chichicastenango in the central highland region of Guatemala, to visit the colorful market. You will also visit the Santo Tomas church, the Calvario, and the cemetery where Mayan ceremonies take place. In the afternoon, travel to Lake Atitlan.

Day 4. LAKE ATITLAN

Depart at 8.15 am to travel in a boat to the indigenous village Santiago Atitlan, situated between the Tolimán and San Pedro volcanoes. You will visit the Santiago Apostol church, the market where you can buy all types of fruit and vegetables, and the idol Maximón, a symbol of the mixed pagan-Christian religion of the indigenous communities of Guatemala. Overnight: in PANAJACHEL (second night)

Day 5. LAKE ATITLAN (PANAJACHEL) – QUETZALTENANGO

Depart PANAJACHEL and travel to Quetzaltenango, discovering the southeast of Guatemala. On the way, you will visit Salcajá and San Andrés Xecul, both of which are indigenous villages with beautiful colonial churches. In the afternoon, you will tour the historical center of Quetzaltenango in a streetcar/tram.

Day 6. QUETZALTENANGO – GUATEMALA CITY

Visit the villages of Cantel, Zunil, Almolonga and the hot springs at Fuentes Georginas, have lunch in the Eco Saunas Las Cumbres. Leave Zunil and travel to Guatemala City.

Day 7. GUATEMALA CITY – TIKAL NATIONAL PARK

Depart Guatemala city and fly (domestic) with TAG or TACA to Flores, with transfer to Tikal national park where you take a private guided tour, which will visit the main ruins complex and other complexes like the Lost World and Complex Q. Overnight: Hotel TIKAL INN , Tikal (inside the park)

Day 8. TIKAL NATIONAL PARK – LIVINGSTON

From Tikal travel to and visit the island of Flores, transport by road to Rio Dulce, crossing by boat to Livingstone, the Caribbean side of Guatemala. Overnight: Hotel Villa Caribe, Livingston

Day 9. LIVINGSTON – GUATEMALA CITY – ANTIGUA

Day 10. ANTIGUA – EL SALVADOR EL TUNCO

Transport from Antigua to the little beach town of El Tunco in collective shuttle service. Little village in El Salvador five miles west of La Libertad and home to great surf breaks. Black sandy beaches with some rocks here and there,perfect to relax and enjoy the sounds of the birds and the ocean. Overnight: Hotel Tekuani Kal

Day 11. El TUNCO – SAN SALVADOR

Free morning at the beach, at midday city tour to San Salvador to visit some of the highlights of the city.  Iglesias el Rosario, Palacio Nacional, Teatro Nacional, and the Metropolitan Cathedral, option to visit the Anthropology Museum David J. Guzman or the handcraft market. Overnight: Casa Las Magnolias , San Salvador .

Day 12. SAN SALVADOR – SUCHITOTO

Off to the colonial town of Suchitoto, coble stone streets, colonial houses and church and great art galleries. Suchitoto is close to Lake Suchitlan, a river that was dammed and formed an ecosystem that offers ornithological interest for abundance as well as for the variety of species, pelicans, herons and storks.

Day 13. Suchitoto – Juayua

In the morning, we will stop at Joya de Ceren, UNESCO world heritage site, Mayan village well conserved by layers of lava of nearby volcanos. Guided tour of flower route, visiting several mountain towns like Nahuizalco, Juayua and Ataco. Lunch included.

Overnight: Plan A Hotel Jardin de Celeste, Juayua

Day 14. Juayua – San Salvador

Relaxed day off or different options for adventure. Options: coffee tour / zipe line tour/ buggy tour/ waterfall hike / mountain bike tour. End of the afternoon transfer back to San Salvador.

Day 15. San Salvador – International airport EL SALVADOR
