Day 1. GUATEMALA CITY – ANTIGUA GUATEMALA

You will be transferred from La Aurora International Airport on arriving, Guatemala City, to Antigua city (one and a half hour). Depending on the hour of your arrival, it is possible to arrange a city tour of Guatemala City for you, before travelling to Antigua. During this city tour we take you to the historic centre and other attractions of Guatemala City.

Day 2. ANTIGUA GUATEMALA

We start this day with a morning walking tour in ANTIGUA. With a private certified guide we will explore the old colonial city of Antigua. We visit the main monuments of the colonial period: like the Convent of the Capuchin, the Church of La Merced and Plaza de Armas with the Palace of the Royal Council, the Palace of Captains and Generals, and the Cathedral. In the afternoon, after lunch (not included), we visit San Antonio Aguascalientes, San Juan del Obispo and coffee plantation La Azotea with three different museums.

Day 3. Antigua Guatemala - Chichicastenango - Panajachel (by Lake Atitlan)

We take private ground transportation to Chichicastenango (two and a half hour) in Guatemala’s central region. Here you can visit the world-famous local market (only on Thursday and Sundays). This is one of the largest, and one of the best and most colourful markets in Guatemala and Central America. You can also visit the Church of St. Thomas, the Cemetery and the Mayan ceremonial centre, Pascual A’baj, where Mayan ceremonies are still taking place. In the afternoon we travel to Lake Atitlan (one and a half hour).

Day 4. LAKE ATITLAN

We make a full day boat tour around Lake Atitlan with private certified guide and collective boat (08.15 am to 15.30 pm) where we will visit San Marcos, San Juan La Laguna, San Pedro and the town of Santiago Atitlan, located between the volcanoes of Toliman and San Pedro. We visit the Church of St. James, the local market, Maximón the Holy Maya. The Holy Maya is a religious symbol for to the indigenous communities of Guatemala. All this villages are indigenous settlements by the lake where the local people will show us parts of their daily lives.

Day 5. LAKE ATITLAN (PANAJACHEL) – QUETZALTENANGO

After Panajachel at the Lake Atitlan we travel to Quetzaltenango, also known as Xela, (two and a half hours) in private transfer, to discover the western highlands of Guatemala. On the way we visit San Andres Xécul and Salcajá, places where indigenous cultures are still alive, side by side, with beautiful colonial Churches. In the afternoon we visit the Historic Centre of Quetzaltenango on the tranvia de los Altos, the local train.

Day 6. QUETZALTENANGO – GUATEMALA CITY

In the morning we visit the people of Cantel, Zunil and Almolonga, including also the relaxing hot springs of Fuentes Georginas. After lunch (not included), we take private transport back to Guatemala City (four hours).

Day 7. GUATEMALA CITY – National Park of TIKAL

This day we take a domestic flight at 6.30 am from Guatemala City to the Mundo Maya airport in Santa Elena Peten. Upon arrival we will be transferred to Tikal National Park in collective service where you take a collective tour with certified guide. On this tour you will visit: Complex Q, Temples I, II, III, IV, V, the Lost World and Central Square. In the evening you will be taken to your hotel.

Day 8. National Park of TIKAL - Livingston

Private transport to Rio Dulce (five hours). Here we take a boat to travel to Livingston, a Garifuna village, located on the Caribbean side of Guatemala.

Day 9. LIVINGSTON – GUATEMALA CITY

Guided tour from Livingston through the jungle to Seven Altars. Back in Livingston, we travel by collective boat to Puerto Barrios. From Puerto Barrios we will be transported to Guatemala City.

Day 10. GUATEMALA CIY (or ANTIGUA)
