Our language schools

The language schools in Quetzaltenango, Antigua, around the Lake Atitlan and in lots more places offers you an individual learning experience. The focus of the Spanish Language Course is learning and improving communicative skills. To ensure the intensive care of each student, our group consist of exactly one student with one teacher.  Optimally, with this type of learning you can use your knowledge immediately on trips or group tours. All of our teachers in any selected school are skilled Spanish native speakers with years of experience in education. It is an essential feature of our high quality standard. In case of comprehension problems, our teachers support the students with a lot of commitment as well as linguistic and didactic competence.

Our language courses

To guarantee individual success, we offer different types of language courses. Depending on your goal, you can set the number of hours as well as the intensity of instruction menu. We offer courses through individual lessons. Whichever you choose, our teachers are locally tailored for you.

Among other things, the Spanish lessons deal with current issues such as newspaper articles about society and politics as well as theater and literature reviews. Every language student can decide on his/her own on how many hours of Spanish lessons per week to book, and the intensity of the course.

Dancing courses

One of our exciting activities in Quetzaltenango and Antigua is a Salsa Course – we present you hot Caribbean rhythms to get you moving and to spice up your holidays! The dancing lessons are held during the week, mostly in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday. You can join the classes at any day. The classes are led by experienced and professional Salsa teachers, who are friendly and willing to create a fun learning experience for students of all dancing levels and give you enough personal attention during your dance class. Depending on your level and experience, you will be able to adjust the number of learning hours per day as you wish. Absolute beginners are encouraged to join our Salsa classes as well, as the dance program will be adjusted to their learning pace and ability. However, if you are a dance expert, you will be given a higher level class, where you can learn new moves and steps and where the class will be more challenging..

In search for the biggest pyramid in the ancient Mayan World, La Danta (El Mirador). The trips to El Mirador and surrounding archaeological sites can be made in five to seven days, depending on the amount of time and energy of the participants.

Our tours are organized by the Tourism Commission of the Carmelita Community that is made up of community tourism guides that are accredited by INGUAT (Guatemalan Tourism Institute).

As well as possessing an abundance of first-hand experience and knowledge about the jungle and its animals, the guides have been trained by archaeologists of the Project El Mirador to provide up to date information about the archaeological sites that are visited.Due to the unique features of this tour, it is necessary that participants are in good physical condition and are able to walk between five and six hours a day.

Description of the tour:

Our tours offer you the unparalleled opportunity of visiting the archaeological site El Mirador, the cradle of the Mayan culture, and to explore the tropical forest of Guatemala, the heart of the Mayan jungle.

During the tour you will visit and explore various archaeological sites including several with monumental dimensions such as Tintal and Nakbé, the oldest site of the Mayan world discovered to date. With the help of the guide, visitors can follow the tracks and with a little luck, see birds, reptiles and mammals such as the pecarí (wild boar), tapir and various felines such as the majestic jaguar.

The adventure also offers the opportunity of living with the people of Carmelita – a community established more than 100 years ago in Petén and with a long forest history that has allowed the people to accumulate a wide understanding of the forest, the chicle tree, the xate plant and other medicinal plants.

Uaxactun

In these tours, you will be able to see the pre-classic archeological site of Uaxactun. It was the first astronomy observatory studied in the Mayan area and it is now the last traditional Petenera community. They have been living in harmony with the forest since the beginning of 1900.

The tours are organized by the community. When you participate, you are helping to generate local income, improve the living conditions of the local inhabitants and contribute to the conservation of cultural and natural heritage.

The community offers 21 Community guides in Spanish, has 4 restaurants with a capacity of 30 persons each, 1 hotel with a capacity of 15 persons and 10 family campings with capacity to accommodate towards 30 persons. Come to walk, enjoy and discover Uaxactun, it's forest culture, its stories, its millenary buildings and the rest of one of the most important cities of the Mayan civilization.
