ANTIGUA FULL DAY

In the morning we will visit the most interesting towns around Antigua; San Antonio Aguas Calientes and Ciudad Vieja.
We also visit a coffee and a macadamia Plantation.
In the afternoon we visit the most interesting churches and buildings in Antigua like City Hall, La Merced, the San Francisco el Grande church, the cathedral and the Capuchinas cloister. You can have lunch in Antigua. (not included)

Surrounded by valleys, with mountains serrating the horizons, Chichicastenango seems to be isolated from time and space and the rest of Guatemala. When its narrow cobbled streets and red-tiled roofs are enveloped in mist, it seems magical. On the Thursday and Sunday market local craftsmen from the entire region come to this town to sell their goods. Shamanistic and ceremonials can be found here as well. Apart from the market you can visit the cathedral, museum Rossbach, a mask factory and Pascual Abaj. During the Sunday market you also have a good chance to see the cofradias (Mayan religious brotherhoods) who often hold precessions in and around the church of Santo Tomás on Sunday

We will visit the modern Guatemala City, founded in 1777. It is the fourth city in the Guatemalan history. We will see the museum of anthropology and ethnography near to airport. Here you will find some of most exquisite pieces of the all archeological sites of the Peten area. We go to the civic center where you will see the justice palace, the national bank, Guatemala’s City Hall and the social security building. We continue downtown to see the beautiful Palacio Nacional you can see the official saloons for all the diplomatic events, the cathedral and main plaza too. We visit the museum Popol vuh (people’s voice) near of Francisco Marroquin University. Here they have one of most exquisitecollections of Mayan poetry and images, poetry from the colonial times and Ixchel too and Ixchel. In this museum you will find a display of weavings from the highlands. We will drive through Avenida de la Reforma, Zona Viva, and we finish the tour at the museum of Miraflores. This place tells the story of the old Mayan city of Kaminal Juyù (Guatemala city today) which belongs to the pre-classic Mayan period
