We will visit interesting towns and plantations around Antigua. Our first stop will be at San Juan del Obispo; here we visit the monastery of the first bishop of Guatemala, Francisco Marroquin. We continue to a coffee Plantation. Here we can see the entire process of the coffee bean, from harvesting to shipping. We go on to the Ciudad Vieja. We explain you the sad history of this town, which was the second city founded by Spanish in Guatemala. We visit the organic macadamia farm were we learn about many medical functions of the macadamia nut. We visit the town San Antonio Aguas Calientes to visit the local cooperative market. We end our tour in a Jade factory, where you can see how Mayans worked in the past and how it is done now. The tour takes about 4 hours

CULTURAL WALKING TOUR

Walk around in this wonderful city and learn more about the Guatemalan history during colonial times. We visit the Cathedral and the fountain on the main square and we explain you the city plan. From the second floor in the City hall you have a nice view to all the main plazas and the Volcano Agua. We continue to the cloister of Capuchinas, a very good example of colonial architecture. We visit the San Francisco el Grande Church, one of best preserved churches in Antigua and the resting place of the first saint in Central-America, Hermano Pedro. We walk to the beautiful baroque church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced. The tour ends in a jade factory, where you can see how Mayans worked in the past and how it is done now. The tour takes about 3 hours.

IXIMCHE RUINS

Leave early in the morning to visit this late post-classic Mayan city Iximche. A Mayan-Kakchiquel city in Tecpan, Chimaltenango.
When the Spanish “Conquistadores” arrived to Guatemala they founded their   first city in that place with the name of Santiago de los Caballeros in 1525.
We will visit the indigenous Saint Son San Simon in San Andres Itzapa, and see the Mayan rituals, traditions of the unique mixture between Mayan and catholic religion. After this we will visit the town of Pastores when you can buy the typical leather handmade shoes and boots from all the area.
