Description
Located one hour away from Guatemala City is Antigua, the third capital of Guatemala and a city named world heritage by the UNESCO. When you get there, you will walk with your bilingual and certified guide around in this wonderful city for about 3 hours and learn more about the Guatemalan history during colonial times. We visit the Cathedral and the fountain on the main square while we explain the city history. From the second floor in the City hall you have a nice view to all the main plazas and the Volcano Agua. We continue to the cloister of Capuchinas, a very good example of the colonial architecture. We visit the San Francisco el Grande Church, one of best-preserved churches in Antigua and the resting place of the first saint in Central-America, Hermano Pedro. We walk to the beautiful baroque church of Nuestra Señora de la Merced. The tour ends in a jade factory, where you can see how Mayans worked in the past and how it is done now. Free time (about 1 hour) and return to Guatemala City.
