In particular, the story of Dos Pilas reflects the great rivalry and political conflicts that characterized the late-classical period. At present time researchers have been able to trace back its nature with a level of detail that is almost unprecedented in the Mayan region, making it a fascinating place to visit. In 197 it was declared a National Monument.
The tour leaves at 08:00 am from Flores and takes you to Sayaxche, from where you will take a boat along La Passion River. You can also reach the site by 4×4 vehicle or boat or horse . (depends of the season)
