Description

Description:
We will leave early from Panajechel to visit the second biggest city of Guatemala: Quetzaltenango. On the way we pay a visit to the colonial church in San Andrés Xecul, famous for its colors and ornamentation; to San Cristobal Totonicapán, considered one of the seven colonial wonders of Guatemala with more than 300 years of history; and to Salcajá, a colonial treasure holding the first church that was constructed in Central America. In the afternoon we will enjoy a vivid tour of the historic city center of Quetzaltenango, learning about its beautiful architecture and important buildings. We then continue to the most important indigenous towns of the region: Zunil, a colorful town full of traditions; Cantel, where we’ll appreciate the fabrication of glass; and Almolonga, with its fertile ground and agriculture. We will end our busy day with a well-deserved rest and bath in the hot springs of Fuentes Georginas. Satisfied and rosy we will return to Panajachel at the end of the afternoon
