(*) If 4 or more people we can ship for free the excess luggage straight to San Pedro, or if less than 4 people for a small extra payment of a total of 50 USD (between the group)

Day 1:

  • We will start this day at 6.00am by picking you up from your hotel or home in Xela (another name for Quetzaltenango) from where we go to Cantel, one of the municipalities
of Quetzaltenango, situated at the altitude of about 2350 meters above sea-level. Here the real adventure starts. We have 3 hours of uphill hiking to go, until we reach the highest
point of the hike (3100m). If already hungry breakfast here (not included) and enjoy one of the most beautiful views (in the summer and the rainy season). We can see the lake and
many of the surrounding volcanoes (San Pedro volcano Atitlan volcano, Toliman, Fuego, Acatenango, Agua, Santa Maria, Cerro Quemado, Tajumulco, Tacana and many more).
After this stop we have a difficult and slippery 2 and a half hour descend. At the end near a river we will have lunch (included), afterwards we arrive at a dirt road which we will continue for approximately an hour. This road is relatively flat and takes us to an altitude of 2100 meters. It is the place where we spend the first night in a local guest indigenous family, where also dinner is served. Note that the infrastructure is basic, water is provided to be able to wash yourself. Dinner is included and served.

Day 2:

  • We are going to have a difficult day today. A bit longer than the day before … We start with breakfast (included) at 6.30am and begin hiking at 7.30am. We descend for 2 1/2
hours in natural surroundings, with pine trees and coffee farms. The last part of this descend is the most difficult one (30 minutes of very slippery route), and finally arrive at
the Nahualate river an altitude of 1400 meters. After that we have a difficult half hour ascend will turn into much easier one, which will continue for 3 hours, to finally reach the
altitude of 2100 meters. Here, we prepare and have our lunch (included) and we head to Santa Clara la Laguna. This part will take about 1 1/2 hours. In this village, we sleep
overnight, in the house of an indigenous Quiche family. (Dinner included)

Day 3:

  • We get up at 5.30am to see the sunrise from the viewpoint of Santa Clara la Laguna, situated just 20 minutes from the house where we stayed overnight. After seeing the
sunrise waking up the Lake Atitlan heading back to the house to take a breakfast (included) and collecting our luggage, and we will start the day’s descending, which will
only take 3 hours. We will try to start at 8am and head to a mountain known as El Rostro Maya, situated in San Juan la Laguna. We will end the hike in San Pedro la Laguna. Your
luggage will be in PANAJACHEL (*), Lunch is not anymore included.
